Compal Lands NT$984mln Deal for Arcadyan's 69% Share

Taiwanese leading notebook PC maker Compal announced on August 25 that it will pay NT$984 million (US$29.9 million; US$1 = NT$32.6) in cash for a 69% share of Arcadyan, a wireless broadband solution provider wholly owned by Taiwanese Accton. The agreement is expected to be completed in the forth quarter of 2006. Accton also announced on August 28 that it plans to sell its Shanghai-based factory SVA Accton Technology, a former joint venture between China's SVA and Accton, for NT$400 million (US$12.2 million) to Compal, and the deal is anticipated to be finalized in late September, 2006.
